How to Knit an Asymmetrical Shoulder Sweater: Tips & Techniques

It's easier to go to any shopping center or specialized store and see how a similar model looks on you. Many questions will disappear.
All such models are designed for either one shoulder or the other. The photos here are all staged, and it's hard to understand how the neckline will actually "behave."
If you start the neckline with ribbing, any type of tight ribbing, then you need to consider the weight of the garment and either make it tighter or the neckline narrower.
If you finish the neckline with a crochet hook, any kind of trim, it's easier; the neckline line won't stretch.

I once bought myself a sweater with a "dropped" shoulder. The knitting at the neckline was quite dense, plus the manufacturer ran an elastic thread in a matching color along the edge – it wasn't noticeable and held up perfectly, nothing stretched out anywhere (y)

Yes, that is certainly a question...😕. If only one could see the full model of such a sweater, perhaps the solution would come by itself. For some reason, it seems to me that this is an off-the-shoulder sweater model, it just looks like only one shoulder is knitted open in the side-angle photo.

Do you think the neckline is symmetrical? The pattern bothers me. It's hard to see, but the cables lie vertically, suspiciously straight. If it were just a slanted shoulder, they would have also laid out in a slanted way somehow. 😕
