At home, I keep an antique rushnyk—a towel embroidered by my great-grandmother in 1875. I will not dwell on the delicacy and care of the work here; this post is about something else. In folk tradition, girls embroidered belts, shirts, and even bedsheets that were thought to protect their owners. Inspired by that tradition, I looked for mandala designs associated in popular belief with wishes, household harmony, and protection. Mandala-style motifs can be created in many ways, from painting and stained glass to string art and crocheted doilies. I found several patterns for cross-stitch or bead embroidery. Long autumn evenings lie ahead))) Best of all, these designs can decorate almost anything at home—for example, throw pillows or a stitched wall panel. I am sharing patterns from my collection!
У меня дома хранится старинный «рушнык» — полотенце, вышитое еще прабабушкой с 1875 году. О тонкости и тщательности работы говорить не буду, сейчас о другом. Раньше каждая девушка вышивали изделия, призванные оберегать своего владельца — пояса, рубашки и даже простыни! Вдохновленная этой идеей, я решила поискать схему мандалы, которая исполняет желания, приносит гармонию в дом и защищает его обитатели. Оказалось, что вариантов создания загадочного узора множество: от росписи красками и витражей до плетения на гвоздях и вязания салфеток. Я нашла для себя несколько схем для вышивки крестом или бисером. Впереди долгие осенние вечера))) Самое приятное - ими можно украсить любые предметы в доме. например, диванные подушки или вышить и повесить на стену в виде панно. Делюсь схемами из своей копилки!

They are very similar! My towel is from 1905—the date is embroidered on it. My great-grandmother lived near Mykolaiv. Where did yours live? It would be interesting to create an “Our Museum” section; perhaps crafters have interesting antique items at home. It would be a great way to share experience!
