Embroidered Garland

It has long been my dream to decorate our Christmas tree with a special embroidered flag garland ❤️ I was recently looking for inspiration and realized I needed to organize my ideas to choose the best option for myself. I would love to hear your thoughts and tips!

Here is the flag design I like the most: a simple embroidered motif, but look at that framing—metallic gold thread with seed beads, plus a festive metallic beaded border 😍

Here is the same flag unfolded—after embroidering the design, it is simply folded in half lengthwise, and the edges are joined with a biscornu stitch and decorated with beads.

Nothing complicated, but there is quite a lot of fine detail work.

You can work in a similar style using not only light-colored fabric but also colored Aida or evenweave. Combining red with gold trim also looks very festive 👍

There is a slightly less ornate but equally cute option: printed evenweave + embroidery + interfacing (like fusible stabilizer) + wide fabric loops. String a row of these flags onto a twisted cord, and there you have it—instant holiday spirit!

For scrapbooking enthusiasts, I found another version using kraft cardstock. Embroider Christmas/holiday motifs, cut them out, and glue them onto pre-made templates. You don't even have to connect them into a garland; you can make each "tag" an individual ornament with its own loop.

And finally, here are a few suitable patterns for such mini-embroidery projects. The main rule for them is simplicity and miniature size.
