Men's Slouchy Beanie
Finding a pattern for men's hats can sometimes be trickier than for women's.
I suggest knitting a hat with a simple vertical line pattern. Its key advantage is that it looks great on both sides. Therefore, the hat will be reversible!
The hat is knitted with a slouchy crown.
Hat length: 28 cm.
The pattern repeat is four stitches.
After measuring your head circumference, knit a gauge swatch to determine the required number of stitches based on your tension. Remember that it must be a multiple of four.
Join in the round and knit a 1x1 ribbing. However, knit the knit stitches through the back loop (twisted).
Just in case, I'll explain: this is a knit stitch worked through the back loop. This results in twisted stitch legs.
Purl stitches are worked in the usual way.
Knit the ribbing to your desired height; mine is 6 cm.
Then, work the main pattern: 1 twisted knit, 3 purls.
Knit 26 cm straight, without decreases.
Next, perform the decreases, starting with the purl stitches:
Row 1: 1 twisted knit, purl 2 together, 1 purl;
Row 2: Work as established;
Row 3: 1 twisted knit, purl 2 together;
Row 4: Work as established;
Row 5: Slip 1 knitwise, then purl 1, pass the slipped stitch over the purl stitch. This results in 1 stitch.
Draw the yarn through the remaining stitches, leaving a 10 cm tail. Weave in the end neatly.
Yes, you can't really use all those openwork patterns for men's hats)) But if you want to knit a hat that isn't too thick, and, so to speak, almost elegant, your pattern would be perfect!
