Need a Pattern for Knitting a Snood
Looking for advice — I need a pattern for a snood. I'm tired of cables, and I'd rather avoid anything as intricately woven as Aran patterns.
I'll be knitting with medium-weight wool. I'd like something that holds its shape well, so the snood doesn't stretch out into a floppy sack. Maybe something with diagonal ribbing. Lace patterns are also not an option — I want something warm. And nothing too complicated to work.
Ideally I'd like to knit it in the round, but I could also sew the snood together along a vertical seam if needed. The main thing is that the pattern's horizontal repeat isn't too large, so I can adjust the width easily.

You might like my pattern. It's not cables, and it's practically reversible.
The horizontal repeat is 16 stitches.
In the first row, the stitches are worked as follows: cross eight stitches to the right, i.e. slip four stitches onto a cable needle held behind the work, knit the next four stitches: 1 knit, 2 purl, 1 knit, then work the previously held stitches from the cable needle: 1 knit, two purl, 1 knit, then cross eight stitches to the left, i.e. slip four stitches onto a cable needle held in front of the work, knit the next four stitches: 1 knit, 2 purl, 1 knit, then work the previously held stitches from the cable needle: 1 knit, two purl, 1 knit.
Work the second row as: 1 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl, 2 knit, 2 purl.
Work rows 3 through 10 following the pattern. Then start again from row 1.
Here's what the pattern looks like from both sides.
