How to create 3D Christmas-style bottle decor
On the eve of the New Year, many people wonder how to decorate a champagne or wine bottle. At the same time, a bottle can be used for other purposes, such as room decor. To this end, we will try to create 3D bottle decor in a Christmas style.
Materials needed
- Wine or champagne bottle.
- PVA-based putty.
- Acrylic paints: dark green and white.
- Acrylic varnish.
- Hot glue.
- Small spatula, brushes, sponge.
- Decorations.
A little about the putty
A successful decorating result depends on the putty you choose. I recommend buying the one shown in the photo. What is its advantage? The material has a very thick structure and does not spread, which is easy to check with a knife.
Work process
Degrease the surface of the bottle with alcohol and apply a layer of putty about 3 mm thick. Then, using a synthetic bristle brush, quickly create a chaotic pattern. Let the piece dry. Small cracks should not alarm you.
Be sure to sand the bottle after it dries using sandpaper. You don't need to remove a thick layer; it is enough to smooth out any sharp protrusions.
Paint the entire surface with two coats of green paint using a brush.
After it dries, use a sponge to apply white "frost".
Finally, decorate our bottle using ribbons, snowflakes, pinecones, and other suitable details, attaching them with hot glue.
You can place a pine branch in such a bottle; it will perfectly serve as an improvised vase.
Super! I can just see three old decanters left over from my grandmother, decorated with different ornaments (snowflakes, flowers, and even butterflies). And instead of white frost, you could apply bronze, silver, or gold.
