How I store my embroidery floss – personal experience
After finishing several designer patterns and some projects using my own thread selection, I ended up with a rather unsightly and quite substantial "pile" of floss. I quickly got tired of bags within bags, so I started looking for my own storage solution, moving from one stage to another.
I dismissed the "pocket" storage method almost immediately: it turned out that dedicating a separate pocket for every skein was impractical, as it would take up too much space.
Winding the thread onto special floss drops improved the space situation, but not enough to become a permanent fixture in my workspace.
However, bobbins turned out to be a very compact option in this regard: they take up little space, and all the colors are clearly visible. You can store them in sticks or containers. The only downside is that winding them takes time and patience to straighten out the constantly twisting thread.
Therefore, the skeins bought in reserve for a very distant "rainy day" found their home in a special, almost doll-sized chest of drawers.
For current projects, I prefer to hang the threads on organizers: it doesn't necessarily have to be a Pako. I also use wooden and temporary paper organizers. And in this case, I don't rely on logic – only on my mood 🥰
I really like using Pako in my work; I have several of them for parallel projects.
The bobbins didn't work for me because I found them to be an unnecessary intermediate step. But maybe I just don't have that much floss ))
Usually the skeins go straight onto my work organizer, and I put the leftovers into a special pouch that I always label with the thread numbers.
