How to spoil your pet – making a cat toy

We are a family of cat lovers. That’s probably the only way to justify having three active whiskered faces in a 56-square-meter apartment 🤪 They are constantly competing with each other for bags, boxes, and other ambush spots. So, it was decided to build them something they could all play with together. The idea is ridiculously simple, and perhaps someone has already used it (let me know about your experience!), but for me, it was a real discovery.

I couldn't find a ready-made box that was narrow and wide enough, so I used sheets of corrugated cardboard to create the cat maze. The dimensions of the pieces: 40x40 (for the top and bottom), and 4 pieces of 40x10 for the sides.

On the sheet that will become the top lid, draw holes in a random pattern. Do the same on the side pieces. Cut out the resulting "holes" along the outline using a utility knife.

Assembly stage: connect all the parts into a box. For extra durability, run glue along the inner seams as well. We used a hot glue gun for this, but any all-purpose glue will work.

If your pet doesn't have a favorite ball (or it's, as usual, somewhere under the sofa), take some regular foil, roll it into a ball, and launch it into the box right in front of your amazed cat 😻 Fun is guaranteed!

Life hack (!) Make one of the holes large enough for your hand to pass through so you can easily retrieve the balls from the box 😉
