Homemade Liquid Soap: Archived Method and Safety Notes
This is an archived DIY note about dissolving bar soap in water. It is not evidence that a homemade mixture matches a commercial liquid soap, supports the skin barrier, or provides skin-care benefits.
Adding water, herbal infusions, fresh citrus, vitamins, colour, fragrance, or other ingredients to a preserved bar soap changes the formula. The archive does not provide preservation testing, a safe shelf life, or a validated cosmetic formula, so do not make, store, or use this mixture as a ready-to-use skin product.

Ingredients listed in the archive
- 100 g bar soap
- 2 L water or herbal infusion
- 1 tablespoon glycerin
- optional fragrance, colour, vitamins, or other additives
These quantities are a historical record, not a safe cosmetic recipe. Do not add essential oils or fresh plant material on the basis of this note; product-specific safety limits and a properly tested preservative system are required for a water-containing cosmetic.
Archive process
The original author grated a bar, warmed it in water, and poured the cooled mixture into pump bottles. Heating is not sterilisation and does not establish that the product is microbiologically safe. Use a commercially formulated, preserved cleanser instead for hands or body.

The archive also suggests using leftover soap scraps. Mixed scraps can have different ingredients and are not a reliable basis for a skin product.
