Turning a formal office shirt into casual wear

Many people are working from home now, and office clothes are gathering dust in the closet. Take a look at your wardrobe: if you have boring work shirts, it's very easy to turn them into casual style clothing 😍

Option one – turning it into a top.

Go ahead and cut off at least a third of the shirt's length, then finish the hem.

Use the leftover fabric to create airy ruffles.

First, baste the ruffles to the shirt to decide on their placement. If you like how it looks, stitch the piece in place.

Whether to remove the sharp collar or keep it is a matter of taste. In my opinion, a round neckline looks a bit more relaxed.

Option two – transforming it into a blouse.

Cut the collar and cuffs off the shirt.

Finish the neckline into a round shape and decorate the shoulder line with colorful trim in a matching shade.

However, a V-neck looks just as interesting. If you need to visually elongate your neck, take note 😉

The bottom of the shirt can be rounded or simply tied into a knot.

Option three – a romantic transformation.

Cut the top part of the shirt off in a straight line.

Place an elastic band against the cut edge to determine the width of the casing.

Fold the top over to the desired width, secure with pins, and stitch.

Thread the elastic band through the casing and sew the ends together.

You can do the same with the sleeves: cut them to a suitable length and gather them with elastic, or simply roll them up to 3/4 length.
