Snowman Jar: A Creative Way to Package Sweet Gifts for the New Year

Step 1

This gift is great for coworkers, teachers, daycare providers, and kids too. 🙂 It's simple to make, looks quite cute, and the biggest expense is the candy—everything else you either already have at home or it costs pennies at the store. 😉

Step 2

For this project, prepare the following tools and materials:**
• a small glass jar with a screw-on lid;
• a foam ball with a diameter roughly equal to or slightly larger than the circumference of the lid;
• flat-bottomed chocolates;
• glue or a glue gun with glue sticks;
• PVA glue;
• a synthetic brush;
• white glitter and tinsel;
• sharp scissors;
• small black pom-poms;
• orange polymer clay;
• colored cord;
• red and green felt;
• cotton;
• a small, sharp knife.

Tutorial
Using a small, sharp knife, slice off the bottom of the foam ball in an even line.
Attach the ball to the jar lid (mine is a gold tin lid, and I didn't decorate it at all, but you can 😉) using glue.

Step 3

**Coat the ball with PVA glue and sprinkle it with glitter.
Sculpt a carrot nose **from polymer clay.
Glue the nose to the foam ball, then make the eyes and mouth using pom-poms. You can easily substitute balls of polymer clay or salt dough. Or use buttons or beads—whatever is easiest for you. 😉

Cut two circles of the same diameter out of felt and glue them together for thickness—these will be the brim of the hat.
Next, glue two chocolates together base to base—this will be the crown of the hat. Glue them onto the felt circle. Wrap a piece of cord around the base to disguise the seam.
Make earmuffs using a strip of felt in a different color and two more chocolates. Glue them to the head, and glue the hat on top of them.
Place cotton at the bottom of the jar to look like snow, and fill the entire container with chocolates.
Screw on the lid and wrap the “neck” with white tinsel.
