Sewing a Fun Snowman Toy: Step-by-Step Tutorial with Pattern and Photos

Step 1

This cute, chilly snowman Brrr will become your little one's best friend and will also serve as decor during the New Year holidays. It is very easy to sew—even a beginner can do it! I'm sharing the patterns and step-by-step photos of making the toy with you. 😉

Step 2

For this project, you will need:
• a piece of soft white fleece;
• a bright, thin sock or tights (striped works best; fleece in any contrasting color can be used as a substitute);
• hollofiber, polyfill, or any other stuffing;
• scissors;
• thread;
• a sewing machine;
• sewing pins;
• black embroidery floss;
• the ready-made pattern (attached below).

Step-by-Step Tutorial

Cut out the pattern pieces, place them on the fabric, trace around them, and cut out the pieces:

Pin the fleece arm pieces together in pairs and sew them, leaving a small opening for stuffing. Sew the mittens to the arms:

Sew the snowman's body, leaving the bottom edge open.

Step 6

Turn right side out.

Stuff the body with hollofiber. Work a basting stitch in a circle along the bottom, five millimeters from the edge, and pull gently to gather the piece, like this:

Sew the bottom piece on using blind stitches, then attach the arms the exact same way.

Using black embroidery floss, embroider the snowman's eyes, eyebrows, and little mouth. You can also add a carrot nose made of fleece. 😉

Pin the hat in place and sew it on using blind stitches:

The snowman is ready!

You can make him a scarf from the sock scraps. You can also use small colorful buttons as decoration—it all comes down to your imagination. 😉
