Sewing a Delicate and Beautiful Bridal Garter

For many years, brides have worn a garter to complete their bridal look. There are many traditions and superstitions associated with this accessory. But that's not what today is about. I'd like to suggest sewing such a bridal garter with your own hands.

To create such a beautiful piece, you will need no more than an hour, but believe me, the result is well worth the time spent.

For this project, we will use:
• 5 cm wide satin ribbon (about 65 cm);
• a cut of satin fabric, 20/20 cm;
• lace up to 10 cm wide (length up to 65 cm);
• a narrow strip of fine lace;
• 50 cm of regular elastic;
• paper;
• sewing supplies;
• beads;
• a candle.

Draw flower petals on paper, cut them out, and transfer them onto the fabric. Cut out the petals. Heat-seal the edges of the petals over a lit candle while gently stretching the edges to make them wavy. Shape the flower by joining the petals together with small stitches. Sew a bead into the center of each flower. Select a few flowers and sew narrow lace to them so you can attach the flowers to the garter at varying heights later on.

Fold the satin ribbon in half, insert the lace into the middle, and baste it in place. To make it easier to work with, you can press the ribbon with an iron. Stitch the piece on a sewing machine.

Step 11

Insert the elastic into the satin strip and stitch it in place. Join the ends together. Sew the flowers over the seam, placing some directly on the ribbon and others at varying heights. The bridal garter is ready.
