Sew a Fluffy Mouse for a New Year's Souvenir or a Cat Toy

Step 1

If you are afraid of mice, do not read any further! I suggest sewing one—a very cute little mouse. This toy will come in handy at a New Year's party, and your house cat will enjoy receiving such a gift.

Step 2

To make the little mouse, you need:
* fur scraps, preferably short-pile, light-colored, and solid;
* a little fleece, flannel, or other fabric for the belly and inner ear pieces;
* polyester stuffing or other filling;
* two beads for the eyes and one slightly larger bead for the nose;
* thread, needles, and scissors.

Step 3

Cut the belly from fabric with seam allowances, and cut the inner ear pieces without allowances.

Step 4

Cut two back pieces, two outer ear pieces, and a tail from fur. Add a small (2...3 mm) seam allowance to the back pieces; cut the tail and ears without allowances.

Step 5

Make sure the direction of the fur pile runs from the toy's head toward its tail. If your fur is not solid-colored, also make sure that the join between the back pieces looks attractive, without a harsh boundary.

Sew the ear and body pieces together and stuff them. Sew on the tail and finish the face. Trim the fur slightly around the face so the eyes and nose are visible.
