Making "Gemstones" from Plastic Bottles

If you make jewelry or create unusual clothing decor, you may not always have stones of the right color or size on hand. Today's tutorial will be a real lifesaver for crafters, since making these "gemstones" requires materials that everyone already has.

To become a "jeweler" and create such beauty, we will need:
• a plastic bottle;
• nail polish or paint in the desired shade;
• scissors;
• cardboard;
• glue.
Cut petals of the desired size from the bottom of the bottle. The convex sections on the bottle are quite rigid and, once decorated, closely resemble stones.

Paint the inside of the petal in the desired shade. Nail polish, acrylic paint, or a marker will all work for this. Paint only from the inside. This way, the gloss on the surface of the "gemstone" is preserved, and the painted layer stays protected.

To make the "stone" easy to work with, you need to fill the hollow of the petal. To do this, cut out two small pieces of cardboard, folding one of them several times so it fits into the "body of the stone." The second piece of cardboard should match the shape of the "rhinestone" exactly. Glue each layer of cardboard in place. Paint the resulting back of the "stone" with nail polish or a marker in the same shade as the stone, and we can begin creating our "piece of jewelry."
