Directions:

Choose a solid-color terry sock in a suitable color and find a half-liter plastic bottle in the cabinet.

Slip the sock over the bottle, first filling it with water so it holds its shape. Using a few drops of hot glue, attach polyester batting to the sock. You can also use soft stuffing from old toys. Pull a sock of a different color over the top.

Remove the bottle, sew up the bottom of the toy, and trim away any excess.

Cut two semicircles and one smaller joined double circle from a white sock. Sew them onto the penguin's body.

Make a beak from a scrap of brown felt and glue it on. Make the eyes from small buttons or black beads. Using shavings from a brown pencil lead, add stripes to the belly and around the eyes. The first toy is ready.

Turn the penguin inside out. The second toy will be a different color, in this case blue. Sew on the white belly from the sock just like in the first step.
