How to Make an Amigurumi Mouse: A Step-by-Step Beginner Tutorial

This little mouse makes a wonderful New Year's gift! It is easy to crochet, and this tutorial is designed for beginners in amigurumi toy making. 😉

Step 2

Tools and materials:
• a No. 3 hook;
• 50 grams each of white and pink yarn;
• 6 mm eyes;
• a blunt-tipped needle;
• a sewing needle;
• pink embroidery floss;

Tutorial
Head**
The head is crocheted from the nose to the back of the head, so this is not quite the amigurumi technique. Crochet without worrying. 😉

Round 12: *4 single crochet, crochet 2 single crochet together*, 1 single crochet.
Attach the eyes between rounds 7-8, 3 stitches apart.
Stuff the head: make the front part softer and the back firmer.

Skirt

As you crochet, make sure the loose yarn end is worked in and hidden inside.
Rounds 1-2: single crochet.
Round 3: *2 chain, 3 double crochet in 1 stitch.*
Join with a slip stitch. Fasten off the last stitch and hide the yarn tail.
Arms
White yarn.
Round 1: **Magic ring, 6 single crochet.
Round 2: 5 single crochet, 2 single crochet in 1 stitch.
Round 3: 6 single crochet, 2 single crochet in 1 stitch.
Rounds 4-5: single crochet.
Round 6: *1 single crochet, crochet 2 single crochet together*.
Rounds 7-13: single crochet.
Slip stitch in the next stitch, fasten off the last stitch, and leave a yarn tail. Stuff only the palm.
Legs
White yarn.

Rounds 4-5: single crochet.
Next, work turning rows.
Row 1: 1 chain, 1 single crochet in the next 10 stitches.
Rows 2-3: 1 chain, turn, 1 single crochet in the next 10 stitches.
Put the slippers on and sew them in place. Make bow ties:

Tail
White yarn.
1) **Slip knot; leave a long yarn tail.
2) 20 chain, slip stitch through 1 stitch, slip stitch to the end.
Fasten off the last stitch and leave a yarn tail.
Assembly
Sew on the ears.
Sew the head on with a ladder stitch above round 3.
Sew the arms on at round 4 below the head.
Sew the legs on at the bottom.
Glue or sew on the bow.
Sew the tail below the skirt. To do this, use a blunt-tipped needle to pass the 1st yarn tail through a loop below the skirt, then pass it through the same loop again. Repeat with the other yarn end in the next stitch. Tie both yarn ends together and hide the knot.
