How to Make a Neat Appliqué on Knit Fabric with Embroidery Paper

Because knit fabric is quite stretchy, it can be difficult to create a neat appliqué on it. To handle this task easily and quickly, you can use ordinary embroidery paper.

If both the appliqué pieces and the garment are made of knit fabric, it is best to use water-soluble paper, which will act as a stabilizer and keep the fabric from stretching out of shape.
For this project, you will need:
• needles for knit fabric;
• various sewing supplies, including a sewing machine;
• water-soluble embroidery paper;
• paper appliqué templates;
• a knit garment and several pieces of colorful knit fabric (these can be old T-shirts, tank tops, or shorts).

Using the finished paper templates, cut out the pieces for the future appliqué.

Arrange the fabric pieces on the garment and cut a piece of stabilizer paper to the required size.

Place the cut piece of paper on the wrong side and secure it with pins. By the way, it is best to use special pins for knit fabric. Regular pins can damage knit fabric.

Set the sewing machine to a zigzag stitch and sew on the pieces.

After washing the altered garment, the paper will dissolve on its own!
