How to Decorate a Wine Bottle for New Year's: Making a Fun Snowman Together

If you want to give a bottle of wine as a creative New Year's gift, then this tutorial is perfect for you. 🙂 The snowman is remarkably simple to make and doesn't require any special skills in drawing or decorating, so even a beginner crafter can easily handle this project. 😉

Prepare the following tools and materials for the project:
• a bottle of wine with the label removed;
• white and red acrylic paint;
• acrylic primer;
• black and orange polymer clay (you can easily substitute salt dough, bake the pieces in the oven, and paint them);
• black felt,
• a couple of cotton pads,
• rubbing alcohol,
• gloves,
• colorful holiday-themed fabric;
• red satin ribbon;
• a snowflake;
• a sponge;
• a paintbrush;
• “Crystal” glue;
• sharp scissors.
Tutorial
To begin, thoroughly wipe down the bottle with the labels removed using a cotton pad generously soaked with rubbing alcohol. This is done to degrease the surface and ensure that the paint will hold up well on the bottle over time.

Next, coat the bottle with acrylic primer and let it dry completely.

While the bottle is drying, print out, cut out, and trace these patterns onto the fabric:

First, let's assemble the hat. To do this, cut out the pieces from felt.
Glue the narrow rectangular piece along the long edge.

Insert it into the opening of the round piece and fold back the tabs, as shown in the photo. Glue them down.

After that, fold the tabs inward on the opposite end of the tube and glue the small felt circle—the top of the hat—onto them.

Next, apply a coat of white acrylic paint to the dried bottle: apply it to a sponge and dab it onto the primed glass. Leave it to dry completely.

Meanwhile, roll small balls out of black polymer clay—these will be the buttons, smile, and eyes. Sculpt a carrot nose.
Next, place the hat onto the neck of the wine bottle. Add some blush to the snowman's cheeks. Glue on the buttons, eyes, nose, and mouth.

Make a scarf from the colorful glittery fabric and tie a bow.
Glue on the snowflake, then embellish the hat however you like (in my case, it's a satin ribbon threaded with a small twig and a pinecone). Make another bow and use it to decorate the scarf.
