Embroidered Clock

Know how to embroider even a little? Make an original clock in just a couple of hours. To do this, you will need a round embroidery hoop, embroidery fabric, thread, and a clock movement. A quartz clock movement can be found in craft stores or ordered from China. They aren't very expensive. Or you can simply use a movement from an old clock. You can take any suitable pattern from the internet as a base, or make your own. You can embroider using either cross-stitch or satin stitch. For example, this pattern will work. But you can use any other pattern; this is just an example.

Secure the fabric in the embroidery hoop, and draw a circle on the fabric using a compass. You can even just trace a suitably sized plate and divide it into 2 equal sections. Mark the points where the "numbers" should go.

Using a simple running stitch, start stitching around the circle to form the "clock face." Then embroider any small flowers or, for example, birds in place of the "numbers."

Use a ruler to measure the center of the circle, and use scissors to cut a hole for the clock movement. It is best to overcast it by hand, but you can also use a sewing machine if it has that feature.

Insert the clock movement into the fabric. The movements I used were lightweight, so they did not need any additional fastening. They held up wonderfully on pictures and embroidery.

Remember that the hands are very delicate and bend easily, which can cause them to catch slightly later on, so be careful.
Finally, fold under the edges of the fabric and neatly baste them from the wrong side so the clock looks neat. Finished.
