Clothes for a Tilda Doll

Part 1

**Clothes for Tilda dolls** are very easy to sew and most often made without a separate pattern. The Tilda base can be [found here](/learning/sewing-a-sweet-tilda-doll).
You can use any old clothing to sew doll clothes.
Since we have a very cozy, autumn look, we will use **mostly knit fabric**. You will also need a small piece of cotton fabric and a little guipure lace.

First, sew leggings for the doll—simply wrap pieces of fabric around the doll's legs, fold under the raw edges, and neatly hand-stitch them. Then take a piece of knit fabric with ribbing. A piece from an old sweater, for example, will work. Wrap this piece around the doll's body and shape a turtleneck collar. Hand-stitch down the back, folding under the raw edges.

Sew a simple elastic-waist skirt from a rectangular piece of cotton fabric. Decorate the bottom of the skirt with lace. Choose a fabric with a cheerful print.

Now take the arms, wrap them with a piece of knit fabric, and stitch them closed, folding under the raw edges. Next, the arms need to be attached to the body: take a large needle with a double strand of thick thread, position the arms, and stitch right through, trying to pass through the exact same spot. This way, the arms will be able to move.

Wrap a piece of knit fabric around the doll to form a scarf and stitch it in place. It is best to choose a knit fabric with a chunkier knit than the sweater for the overall doll design. Sew a hat from two rectangular pieces and sew two pieces of faux fur onto it.

Cut out the socks according to the pattern with seam allowances and sew them. Sew white pom-poms or pieces of faux fur onto the socks and to the scarf.

All that is left are the finishing touches—**curl and style the hair, sew on half-bead eyes, and add blush** using pastels or cosmetic blush.
