Christmas Tree Ornament with a Hidden Pocket

Because the toy will look like a tasty Christmas pudding, you need three kinds of felt: white, brown, and green. You will also need embroidery floss in suitable shades for all felt colors, a piece of gold cord, several red seed beads, and three medium scarlet beads.

To cut out the pudding, download or print the ready-made template. Transfer the pieces first to paper and then to felt. You should have 6 pieces: 2 pudding sides plus a pocket, 2 holly leaves, and 1 “custard.”

Sew on the “custard” with a small blanket stitch using white embroidery floss. It is better to sew the custard “drips” through only the top layer of felt.

Sew scattered seed beads along the bottom of the pudding and attach a hanging loop at the top. Do not worry about a perfect reverse side; it will be covered. Sew a neat blanket stitch along the brown edge too. On the second, back side of the ornament, it is best to make this stitch after placing the pocket against the back piece.

For realism, embroider veins on the holly leaves, then sew them and the berry beads onto the pudding. Place the front and back pudding pieces together and sew them, catching the loops of the blanket stitches. Use matching brown embroidery floss.
