If you have decided to take up needlework and seriously master the technology of sewing clothes, you need to start by organizing your workspace.

Of course, you can try to get by with a kitchen or writing desk. But then you will have to move your sewing machine and the whole set of necessary little things there every time — needles, threads, scissors, pattern paper, buttons, etc. And if you also get a serger, the preparation process can take too much time.

And we haven't even mentioned the iron and ironing board. And without them, creating high-quality items is impossible.

Approaching the problem systematically, we will solve it in stages — first on the scale of the room, and then on the scale of the workspace.

In addition to a table for the sewing machine, we will also need a table for cutting and manual work.

Which table to choose

It is very convenient to use a computer desk for needlework - you can successfully integrate pull-out drawers for handy tools and materials into it. The space above the table should be used rationally — you can make several wall-mounted shelves.

Using a corner desk will allow you to station not only the sewing machine but also the serger.

With limited space, it is worth considering a desk with a pedestal - you can hide many useful things in it.

And if the area allows, then a large double-pedestal desk would be an ideal solution. If you mount wall shelves above it, such a workspace will be very convenient.

A somewhat non-standard, but rational solution would be to use a wardrobe for the workspace. And meanwhile, this is a good option, especially if you organize the lighting of the work area properly.

It can be:

• natural — the light should be directed from the left side;
• artificial - in this case, fluorescent lamps are installed directly on the desk or above it.

Which chair to choose

When choosing a chair, you need to understand that a needlewoman's work involves sitting in a chair for a long time. And your health, not just comfort, depends on how comfortable and ergonomic this chair is. If you sit in an uncomfortable position for several hours, back pain will appear, and over time, the spine will begin to deform. An office chair should be adjustable in height and backrest angle and be equipped with wheels.

Special pockets for small items can be attached to the armrests of the chair.

Workspace organization

The goal of such an organization is to rationally place a multitude of materials and tools so that it is convenient to work.

You can use boxes, jars, fabric pockets, baskets, etc. The main thing is that they should be convenient and match each other in style so that the work area looks stylish and neat.

When organizing your work area, be sure to provide a trash bin for sewing waste.
