Upcycling leather ballet flats with lacing

Often, ballet flats either fit too tightly (especially by the evening when feet swell slightly) or slip off the foot at the first opportunity 🙃 A sort of Cinderella syndrome 😃 This is for those who are annoyed by shoes that fall off while walking 👇

The modification is actually quite simple, but for some reason, many are afraid to punch extra holes in their favorite pair. Let me reassure you: if you use a professional hole punch and choose the right diameter, everything will look extremely neat.

You don't have to buy the tool yourself; any shoe repair shop has one, and they will complete your order for a purely symbolic fee 👌

For suede shoes, small holes and a thin genuine leather cord are suitable – even if you decide to remove the lacing one day, the holes will look like a decorative element and won't spoil the look.

You can also use eyelets to further reinforce the edges of the holes.

Metal hardware will add a trendy chic to your favorite ballet flats, plus in this case, the risk of stretching the edges with lacing is reduced to zero.

If you want something more sophisticated, consider using satin or grosgrain ribbons – the ends can be glued from the inside, and the ribbon itself can be tied high on the ankle.

For those who prefer not to tie anything, there is a lazy way )) Determine the size of the figure-eight loop made of elastic tape through trial and error and attach it, as in the previous case, with the loose ends inside the ballet flats. Now it will take minimal time to put on your shoes, and you won't lose your slipper like Cinderella anymore 😉
