Vibrant Kanzashi Clematis: Step-by-Step Tutorial with Photos

These flowers are great for hair elastics, hair clips, and headbands, as well as for decorating dresses, blouses, and even children's shoes! 😉

Step 2

To get started, prepare:
• bright pink and rich green satin ribbon 4 cm wide or wider;
• sharp scissors;
• tweezers;
• glue;
• plastic stamens;
• hair elastics/clips, if needed;
• dressmaker pins;
• beads;
• a candle.

Tutorial

Cut the green ribbon into 6 cm pieces – 3 leaves per flower.

Cut the pink ribbon into 8 cm pieces – 5 pieces for each flower. Be sure to heat-seal the cut edges!

Place a piece of ribbon face down. Fold the corners as shown in the photo:

Now fold one corner up and the other corner down. Here is what you get:

Bring the corners together along the fold:

Fold in half, like this:

Holding the entire piece with tweezers, carefully trim 3-5 mm off the end with scissors, clamp it at this spot, and fuse the edges together over a candle.
Turn the two free ends outward, bring them together, and heat-seal them.

Fold the green ribbon in half with the right side inward, and mark the cut line as shown in the photo:

First cut one corner off the ribbon. Grip the cut edge with tweezers and secure it by heat-sealing. The finished leaves look as follows:

Carefully glue the flower petals together – side to side.

Decorate the center with a large bead or rhinestone.

Attach the plastic stamens from underneath, removing any excess stems.

Glue on the leaves.

The flowers are ready – you can glue them onto hair clips! 😉
