Upcycling Hoop Earrings

Accessory fashions change very quickly. Styles that were popular a year ago can become dated. Here is a simple, interesting way to turn old hoop earrings into stylish, bright ethnic-style earrings. You can also use it to restore old dull earrings or make accessories for a themed outfit. Use different shades of thread and beads to create Spanish, Latin American, African, or Egyptian-style earrings.

Choose some thread: fine shiny silk thread or embroidery floss both work. Make several even bundles of thread 10-15 cm long and attach them to the earring with a loop, like a knitting cast-on loop. Attach 6-8 bundles to each earring and trim them with scissors or a blade.

Decorate the earrings by gluing on flowers or wrapping them with beaded wire.

A second, more complicated method: use thinner bundles and attach each bundle to a separate ring with thread. The easiest way is to thread the required number of rings onto a long bundle of thread, then cut off the required length together with a ring. Then place large beads on the earring and fasten each little ring between them.
