Snowdrop Floral Hair Clip from Wire and Nail Polish

Step 1

I have previously described making wire flowers in the tutorial Delicate Wire Flowers for Clips, Headbands, and Brooches, as well as using them in the tutorial Floral Wire Hair Comb. In this lesson, I will show another way to assemble and use the flowers. You can simply pin this decoration into a finished hairstyle with hairpins or bobby pins, or attach it to an automatic barrette, for example.

Step 2

You will need:
• 28 wire-and-nail-polish flower blanks;
• wire;
• pliers;
• floral tape.

Tutorial
Paint the three-petaled flowers white (I used milky nail polish in three coats), on both the front and back. Carefully shape the petals and half-open flowers as shown below when the polish has set but has not completely hardened:

Next, take three flowers at a time and twist their stems together.

Step 5

Take three more flowers and, 5–7 mm from the first three, twist the stems into one bundle.

Step 6

Attach three more flowers in the same way; you will end up with a branch of nine flowers.

Step 7

Move another 5–7 mm along and attach three more. This makes a branch with 12 flowers. Make one more identical branch.

Step 8

Join the two 12-flower branches together and cover the remaining attachment point with the remaining 4 flowers.

Step 10

Secure the whole arrangement with wire for extra strength.
Decorate the attachment points with floral tape.

The hair ornament is ready!
