Simple Leather Earrings in 10 Minutes

Leather jewelry is popular and versatile enough for nearly any look. These minimalist earrings are easy to make in just 10 minutes.

You will need a small piece of fairly thin leather; any scraps will work. I would not recommend faux leather, because its reverse side is less presentable than genuine leather. You will also need earring hooks and special flat end clamps. They are sold in craft stores and are inexpensive. Prepare basic tools as well: scissors, a ruler, and a sliver of soap or tailor’s chalk.
Cut 2 rectangular leather pieces equal to the clamp width or a couple of millimeters wider. On the reverse side, draw the lines along which you will cut the leather. Space them 2–3 mm apart.

Cut the leather into fringe with sharp scissors, leaving a small uncut section at the top.

Crimp the clamps firmly. If the leather sticks out slightly, trim it with scissors.

Use a ruler to draw two identical diagonal lines on the leather and cut away the excess. Make sure the lines are mirror images.

Use needle-nose pliers to attach the earring hooks to the clamps.

For a touch of color, spray-paint the ends of the fringe. Done.
