Purple and lilac satin ribbon bow. Tutorial.

This bow is easy to make, yet looks just as impressive as its more intricate counterparts. 😉 Perfect for a little princess's hair ties and clips!

Materials and tools for the project:

lilac and deep purple satin ribbon, 4 cm wide;
sharp scissors;
sewing pins;
glue or a glue gun;
a plain hair tie/clip without decoration;
a ruler;
a tea light candle.

Tutorial

Cut the ribbon: 4 pieces each of lilac and purple, 20 cm long. Plus another 10 cm of purple for the center band.

Pair the lilac and purple ribbons together, wrong sides together. On two of the strips, fold the corners of the ribbon edges: on one side, fold the bottom corner up; on the other, fold the top corner down, but switch the top color.

Fold the pieces in half, as shown in the photo:

And fold in half once more, forming square pieces, like this:

Stitch the pieces along the edge with a basting stitch.

Pull the thread tight to form the bow, secure it, and cut.

Sew the hair tie to the bow. Roll the remaining 10 cm piece of purple ribbon into a tube and wrap it around the center of the bow, leaving the seam on the back.

Secure the seam with glue or neatly stitch it closed using a blind stitch.
