**To knit a cowl like this, we will need:**

*yarn, preferably a wool blend, 100 g per 200 m;

*straight needles No4.0 and No4.5;

*button – 1 pc.;

*large-eye needle.

**How to knit**

With No4.0 needles, cast on 120 sts using the classic method, and work 14 rows of *ribbing*: 2 knit stitches /2 purl stitches.

Switch to the larger needles and *stockinette stitch*. Work 18 cm in this stitch pattern.

In the last row, evenly *decrease* 16 stitches – this will taper the neck opening.

Return to the smaller needles and the 2 knit sts / 2 purl sts rib pattern. Work 14 rows, bind off all stitches. Cut the yarn, neatly weave in the ends.

Seam the cowl into a tube using mattress stitch (knitted seam), leaving the bottom ribbing section open.

Using the smaller needles, knit a narrow cuff in 1 knit /1 purl ribbing. Sew it on, decorate with a button.
