Making Unique Round Ethnic-Style Earrings

Step 1

I invite everyone to make unique ethnic-style earrings together—they are fairly quick and easy to make.

You will need:
• seed beads;
• thin wire;
• thin leather;
• Moment glue;
• stud earring posts;
• rhinestone trim or large shiny beads.

To start, string the seed beads onto the wire. Then begin coiling the wire into a spiral. Once you have made 3-4 coils, apply Moment glue to the leather and glue the beaded wire to it. Then gradually apply glue and adhere the seed beads in a circle. I secured the end of the wire with a small loop. Only later did I realize that I could have pierced the leather and brought this loop to the back of the leather so it wouldn't be visible. In the exact same way, glue a row of rhinestones around the perimeter. If you don't have any, you can simply string contrasting beads onto wire.

Wind thread to make tassels and glue them to the inner side of the leather. To make it easier, you can wind the thread around a template or base and then cut bundles from it. For convenience, each bundle should be glued individually before being attached to the piece.

Cut another circle from the leather, identical to the one you glued the seed beads onto. Then make a U-shaped piece from wire and glue it to the back. Glue a circle to this same piece, covering the back of the earring. In the same manner, make another circle from leather, seed beads, and rhinestones, and cut a backing for it.

String seed beads onto the wire sticking out from the large circle. Now you need to install the stud finding: pierce the leather circle with an awl or needle and insert the stud post with the head facing inward.

Glue all the pieces together. At the end, you can trim the tassels. The earrings are ready.
