Make a Sweet New Year's Gift Souvenir at Home

To delight someone dear and close to you, you do not have to give expensive gifts or spend a great deal of time looking for them. Since both adults and children love sweets, I suggest making a creative sweet New Year's gift: a felt Christmas tree in a candy pot.

To make this gift, you will need:
• soft stuffing (preferably polyester batting);
• felt;
• foam plastic of any density;
• cardboard;
• cocktail straws;
• a piece of corrugated paper;
• satin ribbon;
• decorations (New Year's tinsel, rhinestones, beads, etc.);
• candies;
• double-sided adhesive tape;
• a glue gun;
• sewing supplies.

You can sew the tree using this pattern or any other pattern you find online or in magazines. Transfer the pattern to felt and cut out the pieces. Sew the tree body along the marked seam allowances.

Turn the pieces right side out. Attach a cocktail straw inside the tree with hot glue. Fill the empty space with soft stuffing.

Make the base of the tree and hand-stitch the joins.

Cut a strip of corrugated paper 2 cm wide and as long as the circumference of the widest part of the tree. Stretch one edge of the paper strip slightly to make pretty ruffles. Glue the paper ribbon around the edge of the tree to conceal the joining seam.

Make bows from satin ribbon and glue them, along with other decorations, onto the tree.

Cut a cardboard circle 4 cm in diameter and a strip 4 cm wide, plus extra for the tabs. Make a "barrel" for the tree and decorate it with paper.

Cover the barrels with double-sided tape, and use it to secure the candy-wrapper ends as well. Decorate the barrel with candies and place a piece of foam plastic in the middle.

Place the tree in the center and add "snow" made of polyester batting. Your New Year's gift is ready!
