How to topstitch a corner perfectly

A perfect topstitched corner takes practice, but a small paper square can help prevent the fabric from being pulled into the needle plate.

Baste the corner, press the edges and begin stitching from the right side. Stop about 2.5–3 cm before the corner, keeping the needle in the fabric. Place a small paper square under the sharp part of the corner and continue stitching. At the point, raise the presser foot while leaving the needle down, turn the piece and finish in the new direction. Remove the paper and basting, press the area and the corner will be crisp.
