How to quickly and easily knit spiral socks without a heel on five needles
BeginnerFreeHow to quickly and easily knit spiral socks without a heel on five needles
Did it suddenly turn cold and you don't have any warm socks? 😕 That's not a problem; you can solve it in a couple of evenings. Even if you have never knitted socks before and the phrase “knitting a heel” gives you an aversion. 😭
I will teach you how to knit spiral socks without a heel. They will turn out just as good as classic ones. Besides, spiral socks have one distinct advantage: the size is determined only by the diameter. The heel will settle into place on its own. As for the height, knit it as you wish—even up to the knee.
What you need:
*yarn, preferably containing wool;
*a set of five needles;
*pins or stitch markers.
Step-by-step instructions
Cast on the required number of stitches (the pattern repeat is 4 sts; keep this in mind when casting on), then join to work in the round. Work standard ribbing for a few rounds.
Next, work the pattern:
Rnd 1: *k4, p4*;
Rnds 2 and 3: in pattern;
Rnd 4: shift the pattern by 1 st – p1, *k4, p4*, p3;
Rnds 5 and 6: in pattern;
Rnd 7: shift the pattern again – p2, *k4, p4*, p2;
Rnds 8 and 9: in pattern.
Continue shifting by 1 st this way, then work two rounds in pattern.
Knit to the desired sock length.
For the toe, decrease by 1 st on each needle in the round. When only 4 sts remain, cinch them tight and fasten off.
