How to Make the Sweetest, Most Delicate Butterfly for a Headband or Hair Clip

You can embellish hair clips, hair ties, and headbands with all kinds of elements, but the option I want to share with you is the most delicate and unique. I suggest making a butterfly just like this.

To make this butterfly, you will need:
• decorative feathers (you can buy them at a craft store or dye white feathers from any domestic fowl);
• satin ribbon;
• fusible web;
• wire;
• wing template;
• beads, rhinestones;
• glue;
• craft tools for working with these materials.
Cut rectangles from the satin ribbon using the prepared butterfly wing templates as a guide. It is important that each rectangle is 0.5-0.75 cm larger than the pattern piece. Each wing half requires 2 rectangles, so cut 8 pieces of satin. You will also need to cut 4 pieces of thin wire, twice the length of the rectangles.

Cut the fusible web into pieces the same size as the satin ribbon.

Lay the satin ribbon rectangles out on a flat surface. Place a piece of wire along the center of each piece, leaving the ends extending further out on one side than the other. Place a piece of fusible web on top of this assembly.

Cover the "sandwich" with the remaining pieces of satin and gently press with an iron.

As a result, you will get blanks like these. At first, I decided to decorate the ends of the wire with beads (you can see them in the photo), but later I had to remove them because they weighed down the wings too much.

Cut out the wings using the prepared blanks, then lightly singe the edges with a lighter.

Assemble the butterfly's body, remembering to make the antennae. String the beads however you like best and find most convenient.

Thread the free ends of the wire through the beads.

Assemble the wings and glue the feathers onto the wing blanks.

Secure the wire ends of the wings between the beads.

To give the butterfly a neat finish, glue rhinestones over the areas where the feathers were glued and the wire was secured.

I decided to attach this beauty to a headband. Secure the butterfly to the headband with wire, add a drop of glue to hold it firmly in place, and neatly wrap the whole attachment area with a small strip of satin ribbon.
