Step 1

First, you need to prepare the yarn. You can see how to do this.

Keep in mind that for the washcloth, you need to choose fabric that does not fray at all. Synthetics or blended fabrics are ideal. If you want to knit a washcloth with multicolored stripes, you need to make several balls of yarn. For knitting with homemade yarn, I use thick needles (7 mm diameter). I prefer the simplest pattern –* garter stitch.*\nCast on 10...15 stitches.

Step 3

Keep in mind that with use, the washcloth will stretch slightly and become narrower. Therefore, knit it with extra width from the start.\nKnit 10...15 rows in one color, then switch to the other.

Step 4

Knit another 10...15 rows.

Step 5

Switch back to the first yarn color. Knit 20...25 rows. Knit another stripe in the second color, and then another 10...15 rows in the first.

Step 6

Tie three strips to one of the corners.

Step 7

Braid them into a 36 cm braid.

Step 8

Tie its end to the second corner of the washcloth. Tie it very securely; you can even tack it with a few stitches.
