DIY Mouse Brooch – Symbol of 2020

Step 1

Ahead of the Year of the Mouse (Rat), I suggest crocheting a cute accessory. 😉

Step 2

You will need:
• yellow and white cotton yarn;
• a matching crochet hook;
• a black bead;
• blush;
• a needle;
• a pin;
• black embroidery floss.

Tutorial
Head
Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring.
Rnd 2: 6 sc.
Rnd 3: 2 sc in each st.
Rnd 4: 12 sc.
Rnd 5: make an increase in every 2nd st = 18 sc.
Rnds 6–9: 18 sc.
Rnd 10: decreases (2 sc together).
Pull tight.

Step 3

Ears
ch 2 in a magic ring.
Rnd 1: 6 sc.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st.
Rnds 3–5: 12 sc.
Rnd 6: 2 sc together.
Pull tight and crochet another piece.

Step 4

Dress
ch 6, sl st, 12 sc into the ring.
Next – 3 rnds of 12 sc.
Next round – 3 dc in each st.
Next round – 1 dc in each st.
Next round: 2 dc in each st.
Attach yarn to the top of the dress for sewing on later.

Step 5

Sew the dress to the mouse's head. Sew on the ears.

Step 6

Paw
ch 2, sl st, 4 sc. Work 4 rnds of 4 sc.
Sew on the paw.

Step 7

Face
Embroider the nose and smile with thread. Sew on the bead eye. Apply blush to the ears and cheek.

All that's left is to attach the pin to the back, and the mouse brooch is ready!
