DIY Lush Fancy Ribbon Bow: Step-by-Step Tutorial

All moms of girls probably feel like kids again and dress up their daughters just like childhood dolls. I am no exception. 🙂 So I want to share one of my favorite bow designs with you. 😉

For this project, you will need:
• 4 cm ribbons (I'm using lilac and milky white);
• sharp scissors;
• sewing pins;
• a needle;
• thread;
• a ruler;
• glue.

Tutorial

Cut two 20 cm pieces of white ribbon and two 20 cm pieces of lilac ribbon.

First, fold the lilac pieces. To do this, mark the center line, then fold the ribbon from the center to form a triangle (that might sound confusing, but you can see it clearly in the photo). Flip the folded piece over to the other side.

Now fold in the edges by folding the loose ends in half. Flip the piece over to the other side.

Bring the top and bottom together and pin them in place. The piece is ready! Make three more just like it.

Do the exact same thing with the milky-white ribbons.

Sew the pieces together in pairs (using basting stitches along the edge). Pull tight to gather, then secure the thread. Sew the left and right halves of the lilac bow together.

Sew the white pieces together in the exact same way.

Place the white piece on top of the lilac one.

To join the white and lilac bows, you will need a center wrap. Take a lilac ribbon, roll it into a tube, and tie a knot in the center. Cut it, leaving 3 cm from the knot.

Sew a hair elastic to the back of the bow, then wrap the knotted ribbon around the center of the bow along with the elastic, and glue the ends together on the wrong side of the piece.
