Dimensional Lilac and Pink Satin Ribbon Bow: Photo Tutorial

A lovely gift option for your children’s friends! 😉 They are quick and easy to make—an absolute beginner will need about an hour for two hair elastics or clips. 😉

Prepare:
• 4 cm pink and lilac satin ribbon;
• sharp scissors;
• dressmaker pins;
• glue;
• a ruler;
• a candle;
• thread;
• a needle.

Tutorial

Cut the pink satin ribbon into 4 pieces of 21 cm and 1 more piece of 6 cm (for the center wrap).

Cut the lilac satin ribbon into 2 pieces of 10 cm and 1 more piece of 17 cm.

Start with the long pink ribbons. Find the middle of each and fold it into a corner like this:

Bring the corner point to the free ribbon ends; in other words, fold the blank in half as shown in the first photo below. Then fold the piece in half again (second photo).

Make three more pieces from the long pink ribbons in exactly the same way.

Fold the short lilac ribbon in half.

Insert it into the center fold of one pink piece first, then the other. Study the photo carefully:

Fold the second side of the bow in exactly the same way.

Next use the long lilac piece. Sew its two edges together at the center and gather the piece. This forms a simple bow.

Baste the two-color pieces along the edges, gather them, and secure the thread.

Insert the simple lilac bow inside the large bow. Sew or glue it in place—whichever you prefer.

Fold the remaining small piece of pink satin into a tube and wrap it around the bow center, starting at the center of the wrong side. Secure it with thread or glue (glue is better).
