Crochet Comforter Toy

A comforter is a small blankie toy for newborns. With this toy, a baby settles and falls asleep faster.

To crochet the comforter, you will need hypoallergenic yarn in two colors, a hook sized for the yarn, ready-made eyes, stuffing, and a needle.
How to Crochet It
Head (stuff as you go), pink yarn:
Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (= 6);
Rnd 2: inc x 6 (= 12);
Rnd 3: (sc, inc) x 6 (= 18);
Rnd 4: (2 sc, inc) x 6 (= 24);
Rnd 5: (3 sc, inc) x 6 (= 30);
Rnd 6: (4 sc, inc) x 6 (= 36);
Rnds 7–12: sc (= 36);
Rnd 13: (4 sc, dec) x 6 (= 30);
Try it on and secure the eyes in the desired row (embroidered eyes can be used instead);
Rnd 14: (3 sc, dec) x 6 (= 24);
Rnd 15: (2 sc, dec) x 6 (= 18);
Rnd 16: (1 sc, dec) x 6 (= 12);
Rnd 17: dec x 6 (= 6).
Fasten off and weave in the end.
Shape the muzzle with indentations: insert the needle at the bottom of the head and bring it out under the left eye; move 1 sc over, insert the needle, and bring it out at the bottom of the head. Move 1 sc over and repeat for the right eye.
Body
Crochet the main piece in white yarn and work a pink edging around it:
Row 1: chain 9, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and onward (= 8); turn the work, and do this at the end of every following row;
Row 2: ch, 8 sc;
Row 3: ch, inc, 6 sc, inc (= 10);
Row 4: ch, inc, 8 sc, inc (= 12);
Row 5: ch, inc, 10 sc, inc (= 14);
Row 6: ch, inc, 12 sc, inc (= 16);
Row 7: ch, inc, 14 sc, inc (= 18);
Row 8: ch, 18 sc (= 18);
Row 9: ch, inc, 16 sc, inc (= 20);
Rows 10–16: ch, 20 sc (= 20);
In the next row, divide the work evenly into two lower legs;
Row 17: ch, dec, 6 sc, dec (= 8);
Row 18: ch, 8 sc (= 8);
Row 19: ch, dec, 4 sc, dec (= 6);
Row 20: ch, 6 sc (= 6);
Row 21: ch, dec, 2 sc, dec (= 4);
Row 22: ch, 2 sc (= 2).
Join yarn and crochet the second leg.
Upper legs:
Row 1: join yarn at the leg placement and crochet 6 sc (= 6); turn the work, and do this at the end of every following row;
Row 2: ch, 6 sc (= 6);
Row 3: ch, dec, 2 sc, dec (= 4);
Row 4: ch, 4 sc (= 4);
Row 5: 2 dec (= 2).
Crochet the second leg the same way.
Work around the body and sew on the head.
Crochet 4 identical pieces, stuff them, then sew them to the legs:
Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (= 6);
Rnd 2: inc x 6 (= 12);
Rnds 3–4: sc (= 12);
Rnd 5: dec x 6 (= 6).
Ears:
Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring (= 6);
Rnd 2: (sc, inc) x 3 (= 9);
Rnd 3: sc (= 9).
Sew on the ears and embroider the nose, mouth, and whiskers.
