Crochet a Double-Sided "Clean Bear" Washcloth

Step 1

When washcloths are stored in the bathroom for a long time, they accumulate harmful bacteria and even mold, so they should be replaced at least every three months. Instead of buying bath accessories, I suggest crocheting a double-sided washcloth from nylon yarn. If you want to make a toy washcloth for children, choose sturdy linen—it holds its shape well and gently cleanses the skin.

I provide instructions for both models; they differ only in their exterior design. You can also choose a different size, even a small sponge washcloth for facial massage and cleansing.

Materials:

1 skein of nylon yarn (100 g) or linen yarn for a children's washcloth.
No. 2.5 steel crochet hook.
Large-eyed needle.

Options: yarn in several colors for crocheting a rainbow or flower washcloth.

How to Crochet a Bath Washcloth

The item has 2 sides, made in different ways. Let us start with the smooth half.

Round 1. Chain 6 and join into a ring.

Round 2. Work 8 sc; place a marker.
Round 3. Begin increasing. Work 2 sc in every second stitch. Total: 8 increases, 16 sc.
Rounds 4-14. Make 8 increases opposite the increases made in Round 3.

The result is an even circle about 12 cm in diameter, crocheted in a dense stitch pattern. If you are crocheting an "anti-cellulite" washcloth, the smooth side is suitable for gentle exfoliation in the shower, so leave it as is.

For a children's washcloth, crochet circles in the same way from white yarn (eyes) and yarn in the main color (nose).

Embroider them with black yarn and sew them onto the flat side.

The other side of the washcloth: crocheting elongated loops

Continue working around the existing circle, but without increases. Make the elongated loops as follows:

Work 1 sc, form a loop around the thumb of your left hand, move it to the side, and secure it.

Crochet the 2 stitches and the chain stitch together.

In this way, make a "ruffle" on the washcloth with 3 rows without increases or decreases. Then begin decreasing.

Mark 1 stitch with a marker, work 14 sc, and crochet stitches 15 and 16 together. Continue decreasing as when crocheting a circle, but in reverse order. Draw up the final stitches, cut the yarn, and weave in the end.

Handle

Set back a little from the lower edge, chain 4, and crochet a strip of the needed length so that your hand can pass through it freely. Sew it to the opposite side with a large-eyed needle.

This will make the washcloth more convenient to use, but for an exfoliating accessory, it is better to skip the final step and make the washcloth with one smooth side and one textured side, suitable for cosmetic treatments.
