3 Ways to Knit a V-Neck: Knitting Tips
For a women’s sweater knitted on needles to look polished, the neckline needs attention. There are several ways to knit a V-neck. Depending on the method, the angle can be sharper or softer, with either a pronounced or nearly invisible edge.
Method 1
Divide the fabric into 2 parts and mark the center stitch with a colored thread or pin. Then make decreases as follows:
Knit the edge stitch and 1 stitch together through the front loops. Finish the row by knitting the last stitch and edge stitch together. Work the decreases every 4th row.
Method 2
To create an edge along the neckline, make the decreases as follows:
Slip the edge stitch, knit 1 stitch, then knit stitches 2 and 3 together. Finish the row as usual. On the wrong side, slip the edge stitch, purl 1 stitch, then purl stitches 2 and 3 together. Decrease every 4th row.
Method 3
Work the same way as in method 2, but with a different decrease rhythm: 6 times every 2nd row, then every 4th row to the required height, with the remaining rows worked without decreases.
