Rye-Flour Hair Mixture: Archive Safety Notes
This is an archive personal account of a rye-flour hair mixture, not a proven shampoo or treatment. Flour, herbs, mustard, egg, acids, and essential ingredients can irritate skin or trigger allergy; raw egg also adds food-safety contamination risk. Patch-test a small area, avoid eyes and broken skin, and stop if burning, swelling, or rash occurs.
The source mixed rye flour with herbs and sometimes mustard or raw egg yolk, added warm water to a thin paste, applied it to roots, and then used an acidic rinse. Do not leave a homemade mixture on the scalp for 20–30 minutes, do not use raw egg, mustard, pepper, or acids on irritated skin, and do not rely on it to treat hair loss, dandruff, or scalp disease. Use a labelled shampoo and consult a clinician for persistent scalp symptoms or notable hair loss.

A great recipe! For blond hair I would replace oak bark with chamomile; for hair loss I would add pharmacy burdock oil. [Editor’s note: These are personal observations, not treatments for hair loss; seek clinical advice for persistent or sudden shedding.]
